Golden Folds, Spring 2019

The spring 2019 collection Golden Folds, focussed on the metal folding technique which I used in some earlier pieces. In addition to using folds I also incorporated the 24ct gold foil in these pieces which were added with the Korean Keum-Boo technique. The result was this beautiful collection below. The double-leaf ear-studs were also the starting point for some of the pieces in the HDPE/Hope collection and the incorporation of environmental concerns into the designs of these pieces.

The brooch stands out somewhat and it related to this series only by its timing. I designed it following a visit to the Annie Albers exhibition in December 2018 at the Hayward Gallery, London. Using textile techniques in my work, I was much impressed by the designs and work of this amazing weaver and the brooch echoes the use of threads in the weaving process.
